The Volvo XC40 sets the standard for a compact luxury SUV, highlighted by a striking design, advanced safety innovations, and cutting-edge technology. The XC40 arrived in the US as one of the safest, most well-equipped compact SUVs on the market thanks to award-winning technology already found on the XC90 and XC60 models. With the addition of the XC40, the Volvo SUV lineup now features three luxurious, cutting-edge, and capable choices for SUV shoppers.
Providing the foundation for all vehicles in the Volvo 40 series, the XC40 was the first model to utilize Volvo Cars’ Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform in 2018. The 2024 XC40 comes well equipped, with a potent 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission and a mild hybrid system. This makes a total of 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard, and the XC40 is an exceptionally capable vehicle as a result. What’s New for 2025
The changes for 2025 have been mainly cosmetic. The Bright Dusk paint color has been replaced with Sand Dune, and the Dark theme for the interior is no longer available on the Core trim. The top trim, previously called Ultimate, is now called Ultra, but is otherwise the same.

Standard emergency brake lights will flash at a rate of four times per second if you need to apply the brakes in a panic stop, minimizing the likelihood of a rear-end collision.
